Traditional Elegance, Reimagined
A primary bathroom that honors 35 years of custom craftsmanship — brought into the modern day.
Our client drove past the Varenza studio, researched us online, and called to learn more. They had built their custom home 35 years earlier and never undertaken a major renovation. The home's extensive crown molding and custom woodwork gave it real character, and they wanted to honor that heritage rather than erase it. The primary bathroom needed a full update — but the task was clear: keep the custom, traditional character while bringing the space into the modern day.
The finished space is a one-of-a-kind luxury retreat with a distinctly traditional feel — an oasis within the home. The custom trim work, dual vanity, and hand-selected finishes elevated this primary bathroom into a true showpiece, honoring the home's original craftsmanship while giving our client the modern, spa-like experience they wanted every day.
Working closely with our client, we reimagined the primary bathroom from the ground up, blending custom traditional details with modern comfort. The scope included:
- A brand-new tiled shower, replacing the dated original.
- The old jacuzzi tub removed and replaced with a new soaking tub set within a custom wood enclosure with wainscoting detail.
- A custom-built dual-sink vanity topped with quartz countertops.
- New porcelain tile flooring set in a diamond pattern, extended into the adjoining closet areas, replacing worn carpet.
- Custom trim and millwork carried through to match the home's original character.
From Builder-Grade to Sanctuary
A plain, builder-grade bathroom transformed into a spa-like retreat — with minimal disruption.
Our client discovered Varenza at a Home & Remodeling Show. They had been considering a bathroom upgrade for some time but felt hesitant about the process — worried about the disruption of inviting a remodeling crew into their home. After talking through our process and seeing our work firsthand, they left with a clear sense of what to expect and the confidence to move forward. That conversation set the tone for the whole project: a transformation delivered with minimal disruption and maximum care.
What was once a plain, builder-grade bathroom is now a sanctuary — a space our client looks forward to starting and ending their day in. It's proof that with the right expertise and a hassle-free process, a bathroom remodel can be as stress-free as it is stunning.
We reimagined the space from the studs out, turning a builder-grade bathroom into a true retreat. Key elements of the remodel included:
- A luxurious shower system with body sprays and a rainfall showerhead.
- A striking mix of light and dark tile, adding contrast, depth, and timeless style.
- A custom tiled ledge for built-in storage.
- A frameless glass shower door to open up and expand the sense of space.
- Wood-toned, shaker-style cabinetry paired with modern fixtures.
- New vanity mirrors and updated lighting to complete the look.
Luxury for a Forever Home
A primary bathroom redesigned for today — and the years ahead.
These homeowners met Varenza at the 2026 Charlotte Home Show. They were looking for one full-service team to handle their primary bathroom renovation from design through construction. The existing space was dated and no longer met their needs — and because this is their forever home, they wanted something genuinely luxurious, with practical features to support their comfort for years to come.
Design, selections, project coordination, and construction all came together under one roof — turning the homeowners' vision into a cohesive, comfortable retreat built to be enjoyed today and in the years ahead.
We reworked the layout and finishes to balance everyday comfort with lasting beauty. The scope included:
- Removing the tub to make room for a larger walk-in shower with built-in seating and grab bars.
- Keeping the existing skylight to fill the room with natural light.
- Adding shelving and a separate seating area to improve everyday function.
- New vanity storage for a cleaner, clutter-free space.
- Warm wood cabinetry, veined porcelain tile, and black accents for a refined, cohesive look.
Designed to Age in Place
Refreshing a familiar home for comfort in the years ahead.
In their 70s, these homeowners wanted to stay in their home for at least another 15 years. Built in the 1950s and theirs for the last 20, the house had been remodeled before — but their needs had changed. They reached out to Varenza to update their full bathrooms with accessibility and everyday function in mind, reviewing the layouts and replacing tile, vanities, countertops, and sinks. The shower-only bathroom would stay shower-only.
The homeowners' goal guided every decision: plan around their changing needs while creating a bathroom that feels comfortable, inviting, and personal — a familiar home refreshed for the years ahead.
We refreshed the space for comfort and practical support, keeping what worked and updating the rest. The bathroom shown features:
- Light veined porcelain shower tile with frameless glass and a handheld shower.
- A recessed niche for easy-to-reach storage.
- A fresh white vanity with an updated countertop and new sinks.
- Lighter flooring to brighten the whole room.
- Grab bars near the toilet for practical, everyday support.
From Dated to Refined
A complete primary bathroom update, guided by one full-service team.
After three years in their early-2000s home, these homeowners were ready to transform the dark, outdated primary bathroom they had wanted to remodel since moving in — and Varenza's full-service process appealed to their wish for a coordinated experience. The goal was a complete renovation while keeping the main fixtures in their existing locations: replacing the Jacuzzi tub with a freestanding tub, enlarging the shower, updating the double vanity, adding new floor and wall tile, and exploring pocket doors.
Design, material selections, project coordination, and construction came together through our full-service approach — helping the homeowners make connected decisions from start to finish, and turning a dated primary bath into a refined retreat.
We refreshed the whole room while keeping the layout that already worked. The transformation included:
- A freestanding tub and frameless glass shower for a fresh, open bathing area.
- Veined porcelain tile tying the shower, tub surround, and floor together.
- A new wood double vanity with a central storage tower and light countertop.
- Separate mirrors and wall sconces that add warmth and everyday function.
From Outdated to Spa-Inspired
A primary bathroom transformation designed for comfort, beauty, and everyday living.
After 25 years in their home, these homeowners were ready for a modern, spa-inspired retreat — they discovered Varenza through their church bulletin. They had considered remodeling for years, but being without their primary bathroom during construction was a real concern. A corner Jacuzzi tub, compact framed shower, and dark cabinetry no longer suited their vision; their wish list included a larger shower, a freestanding tub, clean Shaker-style cabinetry, practical drawer storage, and refreshed flooring — without gold accents.
Our design-build approach brought planning, material selections, project coordination, and construction together under one accountable team — helping the homeowners understand the process before work began, and delivering the open, spa-inspired bathroom they had pictured for years.
We opened up the room and refreshed every finish for a calmer, more cohesive retreat. The transformation included:
- A freestanding tub as a relaxing focal point.
- A larger veined porcelain tiled shower with frameless glass and a built-in niche.
- A bright Shaker-style vanity with practical drawer storage.
- Warm wood-look flooring and soft neutral finishes throughout.

Keeping the scope focused helped direct their investment toward the updates that mattered most.
Close project management kept the budget and schedule at the center of every decision, with one team coordinating the process from start to finish.
